The Pohopoco is one of the stream that several days prior to my trip, received a stocking of surplus fish on or around 6/4/2009. On my trip to the stream, I had, in fact, found a large school of Brookies in a particular hole. I would guess there were in excess of 50 fish in this spot bunched up pretty tight. They were very easy to catch and after catching and releasing a bunch of them, I moved on. On 6/13/2009, I revisited the spot, fully expecting that the Brookies would still be there. To my surprise, I found none in the particular hole where I had caught them on my previous trip. I also caught no Brookies within considerable distance above and below this location. My first thought was that the fish had been harvested but, I would have expected to find at least a few remaining. I am left to believe that these fish migrated some distance from their original location. Your thoughts?

Isn't there a cold water release dam there? I think the ph in that area is ok, not too sure though. I don't think they would have made a major migration,especially with the cold water.They might be spread a bit thinner, or wormed out if that's not special regs section. Well, even if it is special regs, doesn't really stop a rebel worm dipper.

There is a cold water release from the Beltsville DAm
And even in really HOT weather water may be released from the dam. Which may have scattered the fish.
I have fished that stream in the past to except LOW water conditions, only to find that due to problems, such as drought, bacteria at the Beltsville Lake or whatever, Water was released from the Beltville Dam causing the water levels to be quite hight
even in mid-summer.

The releases are very erratic there (kind of an all-or-nothing approach) and unpredictable.
Also, its a bottom release dam only so the water is always quite C-O-L-D.
