Sulfers, sulfers, sulfers, great sulfer hatch at dusk along with a size 12 dun caddis. slate drakes are on also..temps in the 60's..caught 3 lost 6 one ran for 50 feet. wrapped around a sunken branch and broke off.
 
How far up creek are you fishing? Was going to drive up there yesterday but didn't how warm the creek was in this hot sun.
 
between here and gaines..last night 6/10/12 on pine creek tioga county.

(While it may be obvious to regulars which "Pine" Creek is being fished and county where Gaines is located....keep in mind there are many "Pine Creeks" in PA and it may not be so obvious to many of our readers.)

 

Yep,

Fished it Saturday evening just below Gaines. Caught a couple of good browns and some rainbows missed many more than I hooked. Waters were at nice level. Saw lots of sulfers, Grey Fox, and Caddis. Picked out a riser and the fish just hammered the tan Usual I had on the first drift. Lots of nice looking water up your way.

you get the orange sulphurs? i thought that was only a limestoner color, usually on freestoners when i fish sulfphurs they are the pale yellow ones sometimes yellow sallies are coming off too an the darn trout play the match the batch im eating game,more than once i have been played with fishing sulphurs an they were takin lil yellowstones, then id switch an the trout would switch too. an this is especially true near you an in the Poconos .

I was considering making the trek out that way this weekend to fish Pine. Can anyone help me out with the better areas to concentrate on and stream accessability? I have never fished Pine before and it seems there's a lot of private land all along the banks. I would hate to drive all that way and spend half the day looking far access points. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was up that way this past weekend too...rented a cabin with my wife's family right on Pine. Fished Pine Saturday evening, also between Gaines and Ansonia...water temp was 60, nearly perfect flow in terms of the balance of wadability and fishability. Decent hatch of largeish (size 12) gray/brown mayflies that the fish were keyed in on...pretty sure they were Slate Drakes. I didn't have any quill bodies in that size range so I fished an Adams...they rose and refused a size 12, but seemed to like a 14. The real ones definitely seemed closer to a 12 to me, but hey...give em' what they want. I worked a nice run with some big submerged boulders and caught a few stocker Browns and Bows. Full report on the trip coming once I get some time.

Here in Galeton Pine is up & cloudy. Here it is looking downstream from the Mill St bridge this morning.

It should be in pretty good shape by this weekend. By what the extended forecast looks like Pine should fish well into July!

I thank you for posting that, i would like to come up sat. that sounds like the best option now. Wish I could hook up with someone up there for the day to learn the creek. The Little j is my home stream and I would be willing to take someone around by the hand and do the same.
