Fished a couple hours behind the Doctors. Only two other guys till about six when I was finishing up. No real hatches or steady rising fish. Water a little tinged, but getting really warm; nearly 70 according to my thermometer. I took an uncharacteristic tumble; kind of refreshing after driving posts and stretching fence in the sun during the heat of the day. Trout were getting rather finicky, though they started biting pretty well in the last forty min. Fished a no. 14 caddis pupa with an ant dropper the whole time. Hooked or rolled at least two doz. trout bringing a little more than half to hand. All rainbows, 10-14'', though of course I lost two nice ones. Good way to beat the rush hour traffic, I must say!

I still haven't made it to Pickering yet this spring. Thanks for the report. With all the rain hard to believe the temperatures are already getting to the 70's. I guess the past few days temperatures have really brought the temperatures up.

Good report -hate to see this hot humid weather which seems to be instantly comprising trout water temps in the SE... The high water has held fish big time so far, hopefully it cools back down and we could be in for a nicely extended cold water season...

I was fishing after the warmest part of the day, and the thermometer I have isn't fancy. The fish were fighting fine and didn't seem to have any trouble after I released them. Still, I will lay off that stream unless it cools of some. Maybe time for the limestoners, or a bigger creek with more spring feeds.
