Well it was quite a long day of fishing, but paid off very well.
Stream Conditions..
Water temp seemed perfect.
Flow was optimal, maybe in the little below average percentile.
Water wasnt totally clear, had the teeniest little bit of tint. Yet still clear enough to see the fish in most of the pools.
Bugs...
TONS of hatches today. I seen 3 or 4 different types of mayflies. I know nothing of specific types but ill describe them. They were all pretty big, ranging from 12 to 14. One was the white/orange one which id say was a light cahill. Another was a reddish brown one, and the third was a dark green/purplish one.
There were also tiny about size 16-20 dark blue/grey looking mayfly. Maybe blue wing olive? I dont know.
And of course there were midge hatches.
Experience
Most of my fishing was done sub surface, and by the end of the day i was fishing calmer water catching them on top.
Stream was pretty empty, at one point for about an hour i had the whole thing to myself. By the end of the day about 6 oclock more guys showed up. Id say filling the stream to the max it should be able to handle.
Ended up with double digit fish and about the same amount missed or rolled.
Biggest fish being a brown about 23 inches and a brookie about 17. Brookie splashed away when i was getting the camera setup though.
