Water was high, and had a tint.

No bug activity

If you have problems with the video, chose 720p or 480p in the list.

Thanks Dave, and no bugs, on the stream, nor with the device lol.

Nice Mute.

I gotta ask because I had a post in the gear section, which video camera model to do you use (or camera for that matter)?

Hey, i currently use a Pentax W60, that video however was shot on a 550D

Thanks Mute. It was interesting to see that portion of the creek again since I haven't been back to that DH area since John Soldo and I established it with the help of a Charlestown Township supervisor back in the early 1990's. Your video was a bit of a trip down memory lane. At that time there was no sportsmen's group that had requested the new DH Area and we were looking for an alternative to French Creek since a) I thought it would eventually be lost to posting, b) I did not like its short length, and c) I did not like how quickly it warms in spring. We saw the physically nice Pickering water (it looked like it would have good habitat for a DH area and it stayed cool well into the summer), surveyed it, and got some help from an interested township supervisor and the WCO. The supervisor then convinced enough other township supervisors to vote for it. We then ran it through the PFBC Commissioners and the rest is history.

Mike, Thanks for the efforts in establishing this DH section. In my mind, I don't believe there are enough of these opportunities, throughout the state. Pickering is case in point - it is a pretty small stretch, during the early season fish hold in 7-8 pools and it is usually loaded with guys on a daily basis until the regular season opens and offers additional opportunity.

I just do not see what it would hurt to have additional sections opened to early season DHALO (or FFO)...

Especially this year - there are a lot of guys with bad cbin fever!...🙂

Mike thanks also for your work on pickering, it keeps me fishing in the fall and winter.

I loved the video. You made it look so simple. I can't nymph!!!

Nice video! I got cold just watching you put your hand in that cold water!

I drove by Pickering yesterday at 3:00 and the area was thick with fishermen so I hit Valley and was glad I did. It was a great afternoon to be out in the creek.

come on. that fish was out of the water for 5 seconds. People think trout are made of glass... they're not. Keep em from flopping around in the sand, dont squeeze em, don't shove your finger through their gills and they'll be just fine.
