Stopped by on my way home from work to see what it looked like, and sure enough very high and i guess unfishable. Not sure if it was stocked due to the high water conditions. I would think that the fish would be swept away out of the dhalo section. Im guessing it wont be productive until monday or tuesday.

Fished 5-11. Action was decent. Mayflies and caddis both black and tan(grannoms?) Coming off. Picked up a few here and there. Also caught a little guy in the riffles. He looked exactly like this but was a brown with amazing colors.

It's not possible it was a wild fish is it?
Also seen alot of these black size 14-16 nymphs under rocks, not sure what they are.

I think you got it mute...i posted one just like that last year...its in the photos under general fly fishing...maurice and jack both said it was an iso nymph.

Hey mute I caught a small one just like that at pickering one of my first times out there by the tree and thought it was wild. I can't imagine they would stock small one's like that in there.

Go more for the gills...those gills along the abdomen are the key...the Iso in my pic was also easily a 14 if not a 12, maybe bigger...

those are some pretty neat pictures mute. I would imagine that using those nymphs would bring fish to your line quickly and also that tom is correct, the gills are unusal and most likely are the key to a successful pattern.

can you tell me where that is on Pickering? I have fished from the railroad bridge up to where the road croses the creek, but I don't recognize that wooden foot bridge. looks like nice water

Take Pickering Dam Rd. off 29 and park near the small bridge where Hartman Run goes under the Rd. There is a well worn trail that leads to the walking bridge. Nice and muddy yesterday; wish I could have fished!

Went up there today and had a good time, fishing from about 5-8 pm. Caught 3 browns and a large rainbow, all on a brown Brooks stonefly nymph. The rainbow came up and smashed it 'in the film'.
Saw several hatches, including a nice yellow mayfly. I guess that would be a ? sulfur ?
Anyhow, thanks for the directions and for sharing a beautiful spot.
Of course, all fish were released unharmed to be enjoyed by others.

Fished after work for an hr. or so Weds. Fish were hitting well, and saw some Sulphers, as well as caddis and midges. Three strikes on my first three drifts, and that was right next to the walking bridge! Water was still tinged, and a caddis pupa (14) did the best. Sorry I had to leave so soon (family stuff), but I did educate a good number of fish.
