Phopoco Creek, 7/5/2009

Sorry this report is a little late.
Fished the Big Creek last Sunday from 7A till 1P.
Water level had a GOOD FLOW proabably from a release from the dam.
Water was clear. 60F
Weather. Sunny
Hatches. Caddis, and a small May Fly size 18 maybe a sulfur, the bug had Orange eyes???
did not catch many.
My partner and I started at the mouth of the Lehigh and worked up stream.
Did have a first time ever day though!

Not bad. So was the only Lehigh fish the smallie? And how did the trout look - - stockies or wild if you could tell? Just curious.

That mayfly is one of those summer stenos I think. Mottled wings, as opposed to a smokie sulphur wing.

If I recall that is a short stretch due to the dam on the Po just upstream from mouth (not the big beltzville dam).

the brookie was a stockie, it was too big to any thing but,
the brown was a fingerling, or a stream bred, it was only 4 to 6 inches in lenght, the smallie from the Lehigh was really a SMALLIE

As I understand it, the Pocoloco was the subject of a major, late season, fingerling stock last year, FWIW.
