There is no doubt that Potter County is a paradise in many anglers' eyes, both wild trout purists and stockie truck chasers. Traditional stockie fishermen flock to Potter County.

Yep, and turkey hunters that fish for stockies in the afternoons. And don't forget now Fish Sticks is coming for the free beer in Elk County. One of my buddy's has 3 Straub's tags and I'm pretty sure you would have to fight him to take them. Dr Sticks is a very intelligent feller who I feel is on the right side . That said, is villainizing a commissioner and beer company going to draw support? Or will it push a few more who don't support his cause to become more vocal. Time will tell...
Life experiences have given an opinion that drawing lines in the sand is a good way to end up with nothing . I understand most on here won't agree with me and that's fine . If we all thought the same , the world would be a boring place.

I don’t think its acceptable for my license dollars to be paying for upgrades to the facility in which these tagged fish are raised, regardless if the fish are PFBC co-op allotted fish, or fish purchased from a private facility.

Straub Beer is using these tagged fish as an advertising promotion and will likely receive increased revenue as result. If they want to do this, there’s no reason that they can’t buy the fish directly from a private hatchery and place them directly in the water.

I respect that.I don't think my license dollars should go towards stocking in campgrounds that charge for camping(dcnr or privately ran). I don't think a majority of anglers would agree with me and you. Nothing is perfect.

I can understand the comparison, how many people might chose to camp at a specific campground because of trout being stocked there? The campground certainly benefits economically from the trout stocking.

However, I can’t think of a single instance in which trout are stocked in a campground where the public is prohibited from fishing.

Every campground in this area that I am familiar with allows anglers to park in a designated space and walk to the stream to fish.

That being said, how many campground owners sit on the board of commissioners, and have the authority to make decisions that could affect their advertising campaign? Something about this whole thing smells fishy, no pun intended.

Let’s look at this a different way.

Take Commissioner Pastore for example, now let’s say that the PFBC would bring before the commissioners a law that would prohibit the use of lead in all fishing tackle.

People would need to replace a fair amount of tackle with lead free alternatives, which just by coincidence, Fish USA happens to sell. I would expect that a tackle shop would stand to make a fair bit of money because of a regulation change like this, and I personally would question if that would influence Commissioner Pastore’s vote on the proposed rule-making. How can we be sure that this tagged fish promotion hasn’t comprised Commissioner Brock’s decision making?

Please don't take my objectiveneas as being argumentative. I get the point you're trying to make. Maybe I agree with you. I don't see the Straub's situation as being illegal. Unethical? Sure. Was that the intention? Maybe not.

How can we be sure that this tagged fish promotion hasn’t comprised Commissioner Brock’s decision making?

We probably can't ever be sure. We could pay commissioners 6 figure salaries and make it a full time job with no moonlighting clause. But,I would not support that either. For me, I don't think he would be pushing to put Freeman Run back on stocking which might potentially limit even eliminate the number of trout PCA has available for Straub's if it's the nefarious conspiracy Dr Sticks seems to think it is.

That entire part of the state. It’s baffling that people will drive for 4 hours for the same rubber trout experience I can get in EB brandywine.

Yep, shady appearance for sure but also might show a misunderstanding of travels the every day PA Wilds tourist makes. Do guys from St Mary's fish western Potter? Absolutely but how many weekenders want to take a chunk of their time in the Wilds to drive over to Straub's in St Mary's for a free case? Now maybe if he makes the tags redeemable at Perry's.... Then I might be more supportive of Sticks accusations of nefariousness and corruption without evidence.

Stocked trout do not dictate where and when I go trout fishing, but under the right circumstances, I will go fishing for stockies. The stocked trout experience is not the same in Chester County as it is in Potter. It just isn't. You can say it is the same because the quarry is the same, but the vibe, the stream quality, and the experience is 100% different. Across PA, the PFBC stocks some creeks that provide a laughable experience for trout fishing, and then you compare that to Kettle and it isn't even in the same ballpark, even though you are fishing for stocked trout. Plus, just the willingness and eagerness to travel adds a layer of excitement that many find appealing. It adds a layer of adventure and it helps build memories for those families that take those road trips/camping trips.

This is just my opinion, of course, but not all stocked trout experiences are the same.

I actually agree with this and I'm one of the hardcore ones against stocking.

I see no reason the majority of streams in the NC need stocked but I can live with The Pine getting stocked. It's well suited for it. Has lots of room/ access and can hold a ton of fish. Has good hatches and can provide families with a different experience than that of any in the SEPA region.

I'm sure many families enjoy camping, waking up to campfire eggs and coffee as they watch the mountain mist roll off before walking down streamside to see who can catch their limit.

The vibe is all different.

Ive always been a time and place for everything guy.

Some streams should be stocked. Some absolutely not. It's that balance I take issue with, we aren't close.

Kettle should not be stocked in my opinion.
I base this on various other opinions and scientific findings about other topics so I'll stop there.

You're saying that if the dam was removed at Galeton that you think Pine would be one of the best wild trout fisheries in the state? I have only fished pine twice or so, and it was near Ansonia. I hated that experience. The water was warm. The banks were nothing but knotweed.

Is the dam at Galeton the primary cause of the water warming so much?
