Perry County Rock Crawling

Took a mental health day today and decided to go fishing rather than do school work...I am a brook trout fanatic so I opted to go find some over fishing the LeTort and YB. I took a ride over to Perry County to a stream that has been real good to me in the past. Water was in decent shape and has a few springs that enter in so it maintains a decent flow year round and has a number of deeper pools along with excellent cover. I parked at the lower end of the creek and immediately got into some dink browns on a beadhead rootbeer eztaz bugger. I would drop it behind a fallen tree and watch as two or three would take swipes at it. Some of them were as big as my fly.LOL I worked my way up through a gorge or long ravine-not sure which is proper here, catching a few more browns. The gradient begins to sharply increase as you head out of the gorge and go upstream. Once you reach this point, you start running into a mixed population before it turns in favor of all brookies. I managed to catch a few beautiful brookies-small (

I'll second that; thanks for the post and the picture. And as much as I'd like to know which stream this was, I'm glad you did not name names here. I enjoyed your articulate, detailed description and the photo, but selfishly, perhaps, I don't want to run into other folks on little streams like this one. I don't know that posting up stream names brings more pressure, but on the outside chance that it does, I believe you made the wisest choice.

Thanks for your post, and especially for not naming names! I lived in Perry co. for ten years and more than likely fished that stream.
Those little brookie streams are what I miss about fly fishing in Pa.
