I decided to try this park out seeing how I had a few hours to kill before I had to go back to work (1:30 - 5:00 pm). I only brought my 6'6" 4wt rod with me. I started off in the park near the dam and worked my way down stream throwing a #6 black and purple bugger. I picked up a few rock bass in the shallow pools that meandered around the small islands there below the damn. as I worked down stream I started throwing to the far bank across from the park and thats when the smallie fiesta began. It started with a nice 14" and continued with many more fish all in the 14-16" range. as I passed under Rt422 I tied on my #6 Olive Bead chain body bugger, and in one cast I hooked into a nice 21" smallie, which was one hell of a fight on that little rod. after a few pics with the cell phone she was released unharmed. I moved back upstream casting a #10 mayfly and picked up a few more little ones.

The water was warm and the Smallies where all stacked up against the shady bank sitting on their beds. I cant tell you enough how much I love this time of year!!!

Sounds awesome! Good going. I fished the Perk for bass several times at Central Perkiomen Valley park. I'm wondering if that's the same place. I never had much luck there.

I think that Friday afternoon I'm going to try it again, though. I'd love to tie into a big smallie. My best so far is only about 13 or 14".

This would be the time to get out there and into a big smallie given that all the big females are sitting shallow on beds and quite aggressive!

good luck
