Decided to stay home and get some things done around the house during this dreary day but the pull finally got the best of me. After dinner I headed over to our local put and take stream, The Pennypack Creek. It was dreary but great fishing weather. I haven't fished the PP in years so I had no idea where any of the holes or runs were. I happened upon 4 guys fishing a 30 foot hole below a small falls but no one down stream where the riffle turned into a run. I headed there and saw a spin guy fishing the bottom of the run. I guess the run was about 50 yards long. I tied on a Olive WB and had at it. Bang after bang. By the time I reached the end of the run, I had hooked and released 6 nice fish. I got to the bottom and the spin guy yells over, "you sure made that look easy". Score one for the fly guys!

I walked back up the bank and did the run over again about 3 times. Each time I got fish but less each time. A nice way to spend a couple of hours.

Nice writing, Fox. It makes me glad Dan and I are heading out this morning. I had too much on the plate to get out yesterday.

Good job, Fox. That's usually how it goes with stockies on ATWs early in the season. I never really understand why Fly guys use spinning rods early when they really love to FF.

Fox,
great report enjoyed it very much...who would think thered be a good trout opportunity near Philly.Last weekend i went over a few streams on my way to Longwood Gardens, i noticed the Brandywine sign right by a lennape forge factory? was wondering if this fishes an s access? I have Ron Swegmans book about the Wissahickon,I also have access to Wissahickon in Blue Bell they have a greenway there, some nice browns there i suspect some reproduction and probably holdover as well as some bass not sure which and panfish, as well as some mean big glass and common carp at a lowhead dam.
Pennypack...who knew congrats Fox.
Theres a creek down near Trainer/Chichester thats real trouty lookin, i might go give that a whirl.

I stopped by the Pennypack off of Verree road today but not to fish. I just wanted to see how it looked. I walked downstream about a mile or so and did not see anyone fishing except near the Verree road bridge. The stream was very low but I'll probably try it next week.
