The bright blue sky killed the fishing. Water was up a bit so that some areas that I would have otherwise nymphed were inundated enough to make nyphing tough. (The current flows over the top of the rock and rips your offering away so frequently.) Tried a streamer in the "streamer green" water to no avail. Not a single grannom seen hatching by me.

By 5:00, some areas were shaded, so I went back to work. Nymphed the softer bankside water above the lower tunnel exit. Tough wading usually, now especially bad with higher flows. But I could get a sz. 8 Rubber leg golden stone to where they were in shady patches, and it worked. No use for the dropper. 4 on this.
With more shade I found some risers in the deep pools below Big Poe run and missed 3 fish on a sz. 14 Hendrickson (red quill color, basically) A good number of the subvarias I saw had greenish bodies with a lot of gray: much like a Beatis. A very penns-like day.

Fished Penns Creek Sunday night, the weather was nice so fishing was tough on top. The Caddis hatch was ON!! Did real well on a black soft hackle (5 fish). Then moved onto a Tan caddis with a black soft hackle dropper(3 fish, 1 dry-2 dropper). Things picked up at dusk on top nailed three right before dark. The water was up a slight bit so take your wading staff if you have one. I saw 2 or 3 bugs today with egg sacks so the hatch is reaching the tail end. I was fishing just below the end of catch and release section off route 45. Tight lines.
