Spent a few days prospecting around the happy valley. Started on Thursday on Penns. Crystal - Gin clear water that was low, but probably normal for this time of year. I nymphed for half a day with no success in riffles and pocket water.
Drove over to Big Fishing Creek above the narrows. Did not do any better there. Again nymphing till nightfall. Total skunk for day one.
Day two (Friday) headed to Spring. Fished two spots and it was like the old days. Landed over 20 fish total, largest up to 13" in riffles and drop offs. Fourteen fish were on nymphs. In the afternoon I switched to terrestials and pounded the banks. That accounted for 8 fish.
Day three, tried same nymph technique for two hours on Spring that was so productive the day before. Another skunk. Drove home happy.
Great weather, got a chance to fish with some friends, and had one very good day. Overall, no complaints here.
