Maurice and I made our way from the Jam on Sunday to Penns. It had been raining for over 24 hours. The rain was not real heavy or steady so we thought we might have chance. Concerned more about muddy stream conditions rather than water levels. We figured we'd check out the bridge at Glen Iron. This is were the state stocks and drakes typically start. We had heard of some drakes and good fishing there from the day before. Stopped at the Union County Sportsman Club for lunch in Weikert. Good move.

The weather conditions were much like the weekend and month. Clouds, light rain and temps in the 50's. Been like Groundhog Day for a while. Not a lot of wind. The rain did stop in the afternoon, but stayed cloudy.

The stream was clearly rising at about 400cfs and up from the 300cfs on Saturday. Surprised to see the the water was dirty, but you could see rocks and two feet of visibility. Kinda.

Immediately saw drakes when we got to the stream. Not heavy but they were coming off along with a few sulphur. We arrived at about 3:00 and the drakes continued to pick up in intensity as the day progressed. We even saw a couple of coffin flies. Not a lot of rising fishing but enough in this one pool by evening to keep us busy. The drakes really picked up, but didn't get the mixed hatch madness like normal at 8:00.

I caught a some on the surface and Maurice was working a dropper rig. I'll some pictures when I get home.

Maurice out leading the charge

Glad you got in to them. I thought Penns would be too muddy Sunday and diverted to Spring.
