Fished from about 10:00am to 5:00pm. C&R section mostly but also the stretch above the footbridge at the tunnel. Stream flow had dropper under 600cfs and it has continued to drop since then. Perfect color. Grannoms were coming off when I arrived and I caught a fish in short order on a dark bodied soft hackle with a chartreuse butt. Was able to reach a few rising fish in the higher flows and caught them on a cdc caddis again with a chartreuse butt. Action on grannoms died down. Did nothing with nymphs. Black caddis were migrating upstream throughout the day sometimes in very large numbers. Fish started to come up to them and sparse hendricksons in the afternoon and I caught several on a hendrickson emerger. Around 3:00pm it just shut down. Went back to nymphs and even a woolly bugger with no luck. It was a good but not great day on Penns. Pretty crowded despite what it looks like in this photo. I’m still sore from wading in those flows.
