Hit Penns early Sunday AM. 6:30-Noon in the C&R at the Cherry Run parking lot. Flow was at 525, however the water was brown. Many bugs flying about but didn't see one riser. Used my usual greenie worm and had two large fish on but one broke my tippet and the other came unhooked. Landed a 12" brown with the greenie and a 10" with a pink squirmy worm. No hits with regular nymphs or buggers. I fished from the lot up to the riffles just below the cabin. Still better than not fishing.

I figured Penns was going to be off, so I headed to Elk Creek in Millheim. Elk was up with some color. I saw two rises the whole time I was there to go with decent hatch of #18 BWO's, #16 Black Caddis, and #18-20 Sulphurs. I took all of my fish on #14 BH Pheasant Tails and Psycho Prince's under an indicator. Slipped over to Pine Creek in Woodward for a little bit. The water there was up but clear. I managed six on top on #14 Yellow Stimulator, with no rises seen even though there were good numbers of tan caddis flying about. The one good thing with Penns is that if you know it real well, you can still locate some soft water areas out of the main current during high-water events that will still give up fish.
