Time fished: Pretty much all day... 0730-1200 pm then a break for lunch, and we fished again from 0230-0700pm
Water Conditions: High and turbid, Penns was clearing throughout the day, but it was still over 1000 cfs, so the flows were strong and the water was a good green color, as it had not rained for a couple days. We did not take a stream temp, but I would imagine that it was warming up, as the fish were chasing streamers.
Hatches: Well Penns was simply Penns this weekend. Grannom Caddis (size 14/16), Lots of Hedricksons (14), Blue Quills (18/20), Stoneflies Brown (14) and black (20), some Olives (16/18). Not a fish found rising with the dirty water.
Weather: It was a little overcast and chili in the morning, but cleared and rose the the upper 50s in the afternoon.
Results: Steady pick at the stockers down low below Weikert in the morning fishing the edges with black wooley buggers. Nothing amazing, but good enough for a shore lunch of a couple trout over the fire. In the afternoon, we fished up near Coburn and hit some wild browns using golden stonefly nymphs and pheasant tails.
