Leaving home and traveling up into State College area I witnessed an awesome lightning show with no rain. Not a good sign. As I came down through Bald Eagle state forest the rain started. At that point I was wondering if the money that I just spent for the new rain jacket was going to be worth it. Arrived at the lower end of the catch & release area around 8:00am was the only one in the parking lot.
Hoofed it up the old railroad bed. Water was in great shape. Temp was 60, water temp 62, cloudy and light rain at that point. Slate drakes & BWO on the water. Fishing was good for about 4hrs with a leadwing coachman wet and two different slate drake wets. Then then the heavy rain started with some sideways rain and thunder & lightning. Fishing was still good through the storm, but an hour later the water came up then went to mud.
Ended up with about 18 fish and losing a big fish and missed a few. Rain was pretty bad through Centre & Huntington county. Stopped at Spring Cr and Little J on the way home and they were both blowed out. It'll be a few days before all 3 clean up, more rain coming today. And o yea the new rain jacket was worth the money.
