Penns Creek, Centre County, 6/4/20

Fished the Penns creek for first time. A little high with about a foot of vis. Was fishing in Coburn area. Scored 4 medium/smallish fish and lost as many. Started early am so didn’t fish the hatch. Was nymphing interesting river and equally interesting to wade. Will be back

I was up at Penns on Saturday also. Got a 16" brown on a #12 green drake around 1pm about a mile down stream from Coburn bridge. Wading very tricky.

For the evening hatch, fished at Broadwaters section downstream from Poe Paddy, about 1/2 mile down the trail from the old train tunnel. Lots of bugs. Coffin flies and drakes. Many fish rising. Had a few check out my bug but no strong takes. Didnt really see anyone having too much luck. Wading much easier in this section.

I fished the same general Coburn area on 6/7 in the morning. I only saw a few rises. I hooked up with 3 fish, landing 2 of them. All caught on a dry-dropper set up with the fish taking the dropper. My dropper was a #16 green bird of prey. It was my first time ever fishing Penn’s so I would say it was a success to get I to some fish on my first trip there.
