I’m not sure what map you used, but if you use Google Maps, and check for the directions from Siglerville to Poe Paddy it will show you the best route.

There’s no need to go past Poe Valley. You’re just wasting time. Take the Siglerville Millhein Pike through Siglerville, and get on the Havice Valley Road. Follow that to the Paddy Mtn Road, and bingo, you’re there. Well, maybe a somewhat long bingo game. 😃

Havice Valley is what I usually take, if I'm driving straight there from home.

Given his direction of approach on the map, I assumed he was coming from the north or west.

I, too, use Havice but if you're heading south on the Siglerville Millheim Pike, left onto Poe Valley is the way to get there.

I'd never fish with conditions that won't allow me to see where I'm putting my feet. Maybe it's an old guy thing. 😉

I fished the tough water on Penns last year during the 2024 Jam and it was very tough. I didn’t fall in but I had improvise some new wading moves. I didn’t venture far from shore.

Previously I had fished 2 places on Penns that was more sandy bottom.

I'm actually making notes and creating pin drops for my stream maps where the is wading and access is best suited for me as I get older. I don't feel that I'm that old at 63, but I know some of the steam beds I cover now won't be quit as much fun in 15 years.

I went up to camp last weekend and fished Medix Run, a small stocked creek that I have been fishing for 15 years.
They had major flooding up there earlier this year. The creek is now completely different. Like, almost unrecognizable in many of my old favorite spots.

I’ve started doing this ballet-looking move that has saved my butt countless times. Front foot forward, back foot on toe, knees bent. When I’ve made a mistake with my footing, I’ll basically reach with my rear foot and land on my toe, then pivot my weight to the back foot in a kind of spin move to adjust my weight and footing. Happens all of the time & especially when I encounter one of the many invisible boulders just below the surface on Penns.

MEdix Run is much more than a stocked trout stream, but yes it did see some major high water last August.

Joined a friend camping there on Tuesday (5/27) in hopes to get on the drake hatch even though im not really much of a dry fly caster. Spent the morning dragging a mouse pattern in the pool below the bridge in hopes of an aggressive eater coming out of the sticks (no luck). From there we moved up stream and had a small success on nymphs of various types. Im really stubborn on catching a fish out of Penns on a dungeon so i spent most of the morning casting that. Eventually swapped over to nymphing which landed a few small fish, but the one thing we both had happen was the number of brookies we caught. Of the 7 fish i landed, 3 were brookies, which i know isnt overly odd, but in the number of times ive been there ive never caught a brookie, and neither has my friend that far from Cherry. Anyway, as the day went on i eventually went back to throwing a streamer and got a number to move on a small yellow dungeon, no takes but had a few swirl on me. Heavy Perdigons in fast water was landing my friend a ton, but you had to go really heavy to get down and slow the drift long enough to get an eat.
