Been trying to get up to Penns for several weeks. It's been tough trying to get the right couple of days figured out with the weather and water levels. I managed to make it before the next round of rain due on 5/1. Before getting on the water I stopped into the Feather Hook in Coburn to pick up some flies. Matt and Tess were in the shop and gave me the run down on the stream conditions. Glad they were open.

Arrived in the morning to a mix of clouds and sun. Air temps were about 50 degrees. Water looked great with a little bit of stain, but clear running at about 575 CFS. No thermometer reading. The weather warmed a little during the day but not much. Clouds continued to take over most of the day.

Caddis were coming off pretty much all day. A march browns could be seen pretty regularly all day sporadically. The same with a BWO and maybe Sulphur. But nothing other than the caddis hatching.

I expected to get better results with the caddis, but not luck even with emergers. Not until later in the day with some dry fly fishing did I get into any fish.

I stayed up at Seven Mountains Campground and ran into acristickid. Good to see a familiar face.

Before anyone freaks out they took their masks off for a moment for the picture.

Nice seeing you Dave.

Think we experienced the same today. Mostly Caddis and stoneflies a few sulphers and March browns. Sporadic risers with one half hour of steady action. Water looked great. The nice thing was both kids caught fish at their first try at Penns.

I’d say it was busy for a Wednesday , probably cause everyone wanted to fish before this big rain. The water looked great yesterday. Looks like we got to Spring Creek at the right time.

Nice pictures...brought back some great memories.
There are a lot of fisherman out all over ,but having a good walk and mostly courteous fisherman around makes it worthwhile
