Penns Creek, Centre County 4/28/12

I fished Penns in the TT from 12 - 8. It was chilly and cloudy with an extremely light breeze. When I arrived there was little to no surface activity. Around 1:30 the MBs started popping here and there. This brought some fish to the surface with violent rises. If anyone needs a killer MB fly for Penns, go get some from Jonas, I have been using them for years now.

As the MBs were winding down the Sulphurs started. There was a very high number a Sulphurs on the water. Chances are the cold air had a thing or two to do with this. Sometime around 6 the duns dwindled but the number of spent wings increased.

On a side note, I am enjoying the lower flows.

Jonas is the mythical wizard that haunts the tunnel on Penns Creek. He wears an aluminum foil hat to ward off negative thoughts. :lol:

Seriously, he's Jonas Price - owner of the Feathered Hook Fly Shop in Coburn. Beautiful, well stocked shop. Jonas is one of the most entertaining flyshop owners you'll ever meet, and he does a presentation at our Jamboree that is worthy of paid admission. He knows that creek very, very well. The flies he sells are superb!

The Feathered Hook provides the best service of any fly shop I've ever been to. A quick story, I bought a pair of greys waders from there a year ago and went through two defective pairs. The third pair started leaking, i decided it was time to just get a refund instead of another exchange. However, for my troubles, Jonas upgraded me to the Redington Sonic Pro waders for no charge. Great guy!! I've had nothing but good experiences at his shop.

What size and color on those sulphurs if you don't mind?

Lt. yellow and I was fishing with 16's. I was a little small but the fish didn't care.
