Had an afternoon to make it to the poe paddy area yesterday. Started fishing around 1 and ended around 4. The air temp was unknown but there was snow coming down so it was cold. Water temp was unknown but it was also cold because i found out yesterday i have a small leak in my waders haha.
Stopped at a large pool on my way down and saw a good many stones floating down the water with nothing taking them as well as a good number of midges.
Continued down and began nymphing, had a few misses and finally landed one on a size 8 black stone. By this time my hands were numb so i took a break and walked back up to the pool.
It was about 230 now and fish were beginning to rise. It would be fast action in 2 different locations for about 10 seconds then nothing for a few minutes, or only 1 or 2 rises. So i thought why not try it. So as the snow flurrys continued i found the closest thing i had which was a size 12 black caddis. I reluctantly waded out with a wet foot and about the 3rd cast i hooked up and brought a fish to net then missed another then caught another and that's all the more my foot could take. New waders on the way
