Spent the last 2 afternoons on penns below coburn.
Was quite surprised at how low the water was. The heavy rain that blew out the little juniata on sat must not have made it an hour further east.
The water temp was in the mid 50's both days. Saw both quill gordons and hendricksons hatching, with a few stoneflies and bluequills mixed in.
Nothing really hatched heavy, but there were enough flies to get a few fish rising somewhat steadily. I did well enough the first day on hendricksons, that I never felt the need to try any other fly. Although, I conluded by the end of that day, that there were more quill gordons hatching than hendricksons.
On monday, I decided to fish a quill gordon - and they hit it just as well.
I ended up catching between 15 and 20 fish each day - in sizes ranging from 10 to 14 inches. With the best hatching and rising between 2 and 5 pm.
As a side note, I stopped at fishing creek in the narrows for a little bit on monday morning. Saw a couple grannoms hatch here and there, but certainly not enough to get anything rising to them. This stream is really low right now. It's at a summer time level
