Penns Creek - Centre County - 10-12-09

Fished around Coburn on a chilly, overcast day.
Surface activity was slow until a rather sporadic BWO hatch started around 2:30, and lasted until about 5. Did pretty well with a #20 BWO pattern. Most of the fish were rather small, though.

I also spent Columbus day on the Penns near Poe Paddy and witnessed the BWO hatch around 3. Caught a couple nice colorful browns on a 16 or 18. Around 5:30, they were rising again, perhaps to a very small BWO, but i couldn't figure it out. It was cold, a few flurries even, but it is beautiful there.

Stoneman - Now that you mentioned it : after the BWO's quit hatching around 5, the fish quit rising in the big hole that I was in.
So I left it and started upstream. As I passed the next pool, I noticed some fish rising there. I didn't really see anything hatching then either. But I did catch a few more on my #20 BWO.

Bet it looks much different now with several inches of snow.

Simular conditions a couple of weeks ago, bwo spinner fall...

Sundrunk - it was pretty cold that evening for a BWO spinner fall.
But maybe that was it

I know, but I figure they have to fall sometime..And Olives seem not to be as effected by cold air temps, above freezing any way..Plus, the fish were taking my bwo spinner...
