I swear I'm gonna ease off of these redundant reports - I don't want to create too much (possibly annoying) noise on this subforum, but this one is more about people than fish and the forum so....

Last night I got to meet up with a fellow PAFFer for an excellent evening of slow fishing. I had first met him on the side of the stream in late March and we hit it off when we immediately noticed we were both fishing the exact same pattern - a CDC bodied little brown stone dry. We chatted for a long time, he let me cast his fancy rod, and we eventually realized we knew each other's handles on here - the same handles we enthusiastically greeted each other with when we met in the lot yesterday. We said we'd meet up again, and it actually happened last night. The internet isn't ALL bad.

It was a hot, cloudy evening, with severe storms threatening but never materializing over us (though they did to the east). Man we need rain. Penns Creek was pretty packed and much more crowded than even last Saturday. We only managed 6 fish over a couple hours between us, even during an epic spinner fall at dusk. Before it, there were massive females, sometimes with two males attached clumsily careening into my face. I bet you could have fished a #2 griffith's gnat and done okay.

Though the fishing was slower than it has been of late, that still ranks as one of my better outings this year. Fishing with another dude and just chatting about fishing, 20 yards apart on the stream, was a welcome change from almost a year of solo trips. Plus he brought some really good beer. So thanks, forum.

That entire DAY of fishing was slow but man was it fun meeting up with some great friends and having a ball. Also I don't care if I don't catch a fish in those conditions, drinking that tentacle beer and watching big ol' female march browns tote along those double males was amazing and hilarious. Don't fish with your mouth open kids.

Did the March Brown spinners ever actually hit the water? I’ve experienced many MB spinner events on Penns over the years as they dart and dive and mate in swarms but I rarely have ever actually seen them hit the water before it got to dark to see.

I honestly can't say - we stayed out til about 9, when we couldn't see a thing anymore. I can say that the fish I caught were all on a big rusty spinner and that there were lots of spinners on the water, but they could have been hendricksons.

The march browns were thick by us on the 24th. I didn't fish but I thoroughly enjoyed watching three fishermen having an epic evening.
