Penns Creek 4/20 Union County

Arrived at the lower end of the project water around 9:30am. There were a few caddis hatchinbg and spotty March Browns. Caught 2 in the project water on March Browns. Then around 1:30 we moved into open water and fished till 7:30PM. My friend caught 5 there and I caught 3 more all on March Brown dries.
I seen cranflies, caddis with green body, march browns and grey foxes hatching, but nothing in great blown out numbers.

All the fish were in the 12" to 14" range and chunky...Looks like they have been eating well.

I was up in the ATT down from Coburn (so were some other people from here : ). Got up there around 6am to some risers to craneflies. Had very little action during the day but all of my fish came came out of deep riffles when I was fishing a march brown wet as a nymph. Had some strikes when I would lift at the end of the drift.

That was a nice surprise running into you yesterday. What a strange assortment of bugs - a little bit of everything, but mostly caddis.

We went up to Fishing Creek that evening, and the fish were sporadically taking sulphur duns. We probably shoulda gone back to Coburn...

That first fish you caught was a pig! All I could see was a big ol' tail sticking out of the water when you released it.

Fished Spring today, and did well on sulphur nymphs.

Heritage-Angler,
It was very nice to meet you as well. I tried 2 different caddis patterns on that fish before switching to a March Brown. They would come up and swirl at the caddis like they were taking it but I never felt them. I have never been to Fishing Creek yet. Would like to hit it someday.
It was a little slow in the evening for us as well. We were in an area below where they stop stocking the creek. I always manage to find some fish there though.
All the fish I caught yesterday were pretty much in that size range as the first one, They definately had some meat on them.
