Following Klingy's post I decided to take one more stab at a 20" on Penn's before the rains kicked me out. I only saw one angler in the two days there and no redds or paired fish and with how low and clear it is it would have been easy. I did however see paired fish on cherry run, two browns and some brooks as well. They were nice to watch for a little.
The fishing was pretty consistent on a euro rig with size 18 bwo flashback nymphs and size 16 threadbodies very light weight and very light line. The further the cast or a boulder between you and him will secure the deal or even some dry dropper but i left that rod at home. Little to no bug activity with what looked like some BWO and maybe a midge but the risers were also little to none. There was some serious chub action though and if I had to estimate I caught maybe 25 of the little buggers. I also fished a streamer and caught a big fall fish and had some good strikes from fish but no solid hookups and then did some mousing as well with all fish being sub 15" but very consistent action. Oh lets not forget the 19" fall fish that ate a mouse....
I didn't get my 20" but Penn's gave up a 19" and all in all a wonderful trip to most likely close out my Brown/Brook season. If you want to sneak a trip in you might have ~ a week before we see a lot of paired fish and redds popping up. Also it looks like weather is transitioning into much cooler nights.
