Very clear for Penns. Flowing about 1.7X steadily, keeping it cool. I thought that now that I can get around with more reasonable water levels, I'd do OK nymphing. I was wrong, sort of. Started Euro Tuesday with a small beatis-ish nymph point and a tan CDC caddis dropper, up higher. Caught a lot of fibrous algea with the bottom fly. Did OK, but for small fish on the upper fly. Fished the area around the tunnel bridge, above Loves pool and the water 'around the bend' . Got NOTHING there. Missed several fish. Saw some hit the beadhead as soon as it hit the water. Only a few trout took the beatis point fly. Next day, I rigged a dry/dropper with a big foam fly up top and the CDC wet fly dropped 1 foot+. Fished much of the same water. Started off great. It was mostly cloudy. Fishing fast water, where I found trout yesterday. The next piece of water, I got like 2. Then up around the bend, again I got NONE. BUT: it got sunnier and of course, hotter. I'm putting the blame on my drop in production on the hot, sunny, clear conditions. Water temps did not get up to 68 from what I could tell on my thermometer, but I don't trust it that much. (Being an analytical chemist, I am very skeptical of any thermometer).
Checked Big Poe temps to see if it was of thermal benefit. It is, slightly.
