Not sure if this belongs here or in another forum. About 5 years ago a finally broke down and spent more than $35 on a tying vise. I tied on a Thompson AA for decades. However, I’m more frugal than Jack Bennie. Look him up GenXers and Millennials. I didn’t think that I was worthy of a Regal of similar BMW quality product. I went middle ground and bought a rotary Peak. Last week the Peak had a malfunction. Back to my old vise. Holy Shirt, do I miss the performance and versatility of the Peak. Once you go rotary you miss it when it’s gone. My warranty story on the Peak is for another day or forum, but Peak really handled the situation well.

Attention GenXers and Millennials who want to look him up, it's Jack BENNY. 😉
Okay. I’m busted. I thought that he was Italian. Now tell me that Rochester is Jewish.

When I dove into fly tying with both feet after retiring several years ago, I had a buddy who decided that he most certainly wasn't cut out to tie flies and he gifted me all of his fly tying tools and materials (his father did at the same time as well and I gladly supply each of them with whatever flies they ask for). Amongst the items was his Peak rotary vise and I agree, for the money it's a really nice vise and I enjoy tying on it quite a lot.

What a blessing

What a blessing

Oh, it absolutely was. I've probably tied a couple hundred flies for them cumulatively to show my gratitude and from their perspective, it was probably a good trade (since they weren't that accomplished at fly tying. Not that I am, but mine are better than theirs were).
