I have a 4Runner. Guilty.
But I’ve owned two Outbacks. They did or would have done everything I’ve ever asked that 4R to do. And some things (snow in particular) better. They’re insanely good vehicles. We had kids, needed bigger vehicles, and either the Outback or the 4R needed to go, bottom line. (They’re very similar sized and both smaller than you’d think.) The 4R tugged on my heart more, if you own one, I’m sure you get it. Other than suspension travel and a slight difference in raw ground clearance type stuff, the Outback beats the 4R in nearly every measurable. For fishing in PA, the Outback is the more practical vehicle. I do like my 4.0 Toyotas though. She’s just getting kept at this point.
