Oil Creek, Venango county, 6/7/2018

Water perfect. 200-ish. No bugs seen hatching in the last 2 hours. A smattering of sulfur spinners brought some trout to feed on the surface. Had a bugger of a time to get any solid takes until the last 30 min of light. Sz. 16 1X short. I wouldn't say sz. 18 and it looked no more than 16. 3 rainbows, fat, strong and healthy.

Hoping to get some Isonychia fishing on Oil Creek this year. The water looks to hold OK so far.

Heading up in morning, anyone know what if anything ( other than caddis) is coming off?

I’m headed there tomorrow too and don’t have any info yet. However I fish this Saturday every year and I don’t see many caddis and not much surface activity in general. I see more Tricos than caddis. The insects likely are going to be very small (sz 18-24).

I noticed Tionesta creek peaked at 75 degrees today and based on where Oil Creek flows are right now, I think morning fishing is the only option. I’m assuming the 2 stream’s temps are tracking similarly.
