I fished Oil on Tues, Wed., and Thurs. evenings (25th through 27th), in the vicinity of Pioneer and downstream from Drake Well. Water was high but fishable on teh 25th, still a touch high on the 26th, and "normal" on the 27th.
Water temp in the low 70's. (71-74, depending on time of day).
Only bugs sighted were March Browns and sulphurs. From 7-8 or so a decent sulphur hatch would produce the occasional rise, and when you see one, you could hop on it real quick while the fish is looking up, toss out a sulphur comparadun, and you were hooked up in no time. The fish appreciated a little skitter on it if you could. But it was a waiting game between rises, and after sighting one, if you weren't on it quick it'd stop rising and not respond to a fly. Right at dark, and I mean right at dark, a significant sulphur and March Brown spinner fall occurred, and rising activity was very good indeed. The fish wanted the MB's. Size 12 and 14 rusty brown did well. Wouldn't touch a 16. It was hook ups every cast, but it only lasted 15 minutes or so and it was over before you could run up a decent score.
My catches were 2, 10, and 8, respectively. Took a day to figure em out I guess. That last day I shoulda done better than 8. Rising activity was at its best that night, but I tangled twice during the short spinner fall! Arghhhh! Rainbows in the middle of the stream, browns were up close to shore.
