Oil Creek, Venango County, 5/25/2016

Warmer and lower water. Sunny, warm day. More bug activity but I wasn't having as good luck as yesterday. Went to look for other risers. Nothing. On way back to Blood farm (about 8:30) noticed a classic, HUGE (YUGE?) sulfur spinner cloud like I haven't seen on Oil Creek in 4 years. Heavy spinner feeding but I only got a couple. Then around 9 or so the duns started to hatch more heavily. I'd say from what I've seen that the sulfurs only really started in earnest on Tuesday. To get that number of spinners, the duns must have hatched well into the night. That should change with the upcoming clouds and rain. It should be a more day-time thing, which is nice, if you can brave the rain. Several large March Browns seen hatching too. Of no fishing significance, but good to see nonetheless.
This weekend might be a washout OR might give up some epic fishing.
You'd have to almost camp-out along the creek all day and wait to see what happens.

Oil Creek is in great shape and should fish well into June if the upcoming rains develop.

It was like that last year. Great spinner falls while sulphurs, cahills and everything else not hatching until dark. Even on cooler days and evenings.
I did hit some very good late morning sulphurs this week.
