Since most of the streams were either blown out or on the rise in central PA, I decided to head from the Jam and fish Oil Creek with still decent flows.
Left the rain behind and drove into sunshine in the northwestern part of the state, arrived at Petroleum Center at 2:00, air temps were 65 and water temps were upper 50s. Water levels were optimal, a few sulphurs, caddis and small BWOs were in the air, and even a few fish were rising.
Tied on a sulphur comp dun, no go. Caddis didn't work either. A BWO, size 18, caught a couple. Then dark clouds suddenly appeared, thunder and lightening started. I got off the water, waited the storm out, and the stream died.
Changed my strategy and started fishing faster runs with a sulphur nymph, picked up another small fish. Storms came back and I decided to leave around 6:30 to go watch the Pens. If I stayed I might of got zapped by the Lightening, just like the Pens.
