Lots of people out Saturday and rightly so. I fished at the Pioneer bridge, and the trout were rising to grannoms when I showed up at about 8:30. Water was great. Sun was intense. An occaisional breeze blew some bothersome sycamore seeds onto the water, which, to me, looks too much like a fly. I saw a trout eat a few.
Caught like 11, all on dries.
Sunday, I got out a lot earlier. To avoid people, I parked at Pioneer and hiked up to the Bench Hole that is downstream from Shaffer Farm. (It's a hump with fishing gear either way. If you get there, you earn it.) Not as much of a grannom hatch at this place at this time, noting that the grannoms are up-and-down day-to-day usually anyhow. Nymphing a grannom pupa and tight-lineing was all that worked. Swining didn't. It wasn't fast fishing, but it was productive. A few fish were sporadically rising by like 9 or 9:30. Got the last 2 on the way out on a grannom dry that were feeding on a few late hatchers and dead ones in the film. Got about 10.
