Water just under 300 cfs and clear and cool from the variably cloudy day with periods of drizzle. I didn't get to the creek until about 7:40, so I might have missed hatch activity. A couple Cahills seen hatching. not many ovipositing. Activity was to sulfur spinners, sz. 18 and 16. Trout are reel-screamingly strong, fat and healthy. 2 of the 4 I landed tore 1/3 of the way across the creek and jumped unlike what is expected from stockie browns.

I went to Oil Creek on Sunday 6/11. Got there at 720am. Water was really low in the pool I fished. Water temp was 62 and it increased to 64 when I quit at 1015. I usually do well on wets but only got 1.

Fish began to rise about 830 but it was very sporadic. Eventually a few picked up the pace and the fellow I was with got 3 on a sulphur dun. I spent time gathering insects and the vast majority were spinners. Only found 1 dun, a crippled slate drake and saw another slate drake get gobbled up. The spinners were mostly riding upright but some were dying in the spent position. Interestly most were dark bodied mayflies: Green size 16, black size 22, black size 16, tan size 20. I also saw sz 18 & 20 caddis, and a sz 16 stonefly that was hatching from the shoreline. It was quite a mix of bugs and there were probably others. All fish we caught were browns.
