Time Fished: 0600 PM- 0800PM
Weather: Humid and warm, the temps were in the low 70s, but it was muggy outside with the passing storms. It was intermittent clouds and sun, but overall the day was pleasant.
Water: I did not get a temp, but the fish were actively cruising and eating. The water was pretty clear with about 4 foot of visibility.
Hatches: Midges, Midges and more midges. Large clusters with the sunfish rising to them pretty regularly.
Results: This is by far my favorite trip from the year. My wife is Orthodox Christian and we went back to celebrate Pascha this year in Ohio with her family. The giant feast on Sunday, had a couple of kids bored and sitting on the couch, and I happened to have my gear, so I asked if they wanted to learn how to fly fish. They seemed pretty pumped, so I rigged up and headed to the far dock at my father in laws place. It took a few minutes of working on the casting stroke with the older one, but he eventually was throwing 20 feet of line (fairly regularly). The set up was simple, yellow/white clouser with 2X tippet and the crappies sitting under the dock happily obliged. The little guy wasn't getting past the casting curve, so I would hook him up and show him how to manage the fight. They made me catch one at the end, so I got my customary grip and grin photo to please all the nay sayers :-D . It's a pretty special experience seeing a kid use a fly rod for the first time!!! I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to do it.
