Took some time off work to do some fishing this week. Got to the river around sunrise. Buddy of mine dropped my car down stream about 7 miles and took me up stream. We unloaded everything at the ramp. Shook hands and he left. As he pulls away smallies start busting on bait like 30 yards from the ramp.
Had an 8wt with an intermediate line with a streamer and a 7wt with a floating line with a popper already rigged and ready to go. Put in and catch five cookie cutters on an all white popper within 20 yards of the ramp in 10 minutes. Not a bad way to start the day. Ended up with close to thirty fish in the net and lost a big one on operator error(trout set) lol. A lot of cookie cutters but got a couple decent ones. All in all it was a blast.
