Had the opportunity to fish the C&R waters of the NB near Barnum last Thurs for a day with an old friend. The trip went almost like it was scripted - as always I caught the first trout and my buddy caught the BIG trout (two 20+" fish!!). The secret may have been that they had dropped the flow to about 100cfs on Thurs morning to do a fish survey so more of the river was wadable than normal and you could actually get your flies deep since the current was slower than normal.
Other than his two leviatans (both caught on heavy nymphs and split shot) the fishing was slow. Their were few bugs flying around including some very large caddis but we didn't see any surface activity.
Great trip all in all. Got to hang out with a very old friend, camp, drink scotch and see some huge fish.
