North Branch of the Potomac, Garrett county MD 5/26/18

Flow: 450 cfs
Water temp: 58-65
Air temp: mid 80's
Insects: Not much, a couple Caddis

Picked up a dozen or so fish throughout the day, all nymphing. Got one brown the rest were rainbows. There was zero surface activity which isn't that unusual for the branch. Have a few more pics I need to get off a camera, will post those soon.

Very nice fish. The flow behind you looks pretty heavy. Is that typical for the North Branch or was this a high water period?

Great Brown Ryan. I am jealous you got to head out that way as I was planning on heading out there when I saw the flows dropping but unfortunately life got in the way.

I would say those are average flows for this time of year.

Awesome brown Ryan, I've seen a good number of 20+ inch fish come out of there. That fish is one of the nicer ones!!! Stonefly eater I am assuming? Keep them coming!!!

Streamers seem to be hit or miss. Honestly I hardly throw streamers there unless I'm dead drifting them or the water is up and stained.
3 weight, he actually took a san juan off the back of a big prl, so that's probably what initiated contact. He spit out a half digested 4 inch baitfish in the net, pretty neat.

Based on his diet choices, I'd guess a big streamer might have got him too. 🙂
