Was hoping to pick up where we left off on the main stem of Muddy Creek the day before but when we got there parked cars were everywhere. So we headed over to the North Branch. There were some turkey hunters about but nobody on the stream that we saw. Somewhat overcast but it got pretty sunny as the day went. We got started about 10:30A and fished til about 3:30P. Water temp was 60F. Hatch wise it was pretty much a repeat as the day before with the tan caddis. Some rises here and there. Started out nymphing without a whole lot of luck. Switched over to the soft hackle and caddis pupa. It was pretty steady fishing after that. Had some luck nymphing some of the runs back upstream after swinging the pupa and soft hackle down through them. Landed a mix of wild browns, stocked browns and bows. We did meet a nice young fellow who was fly fishing and interested joining our TU Chapter. My friend gave him all the needed info so hopefully we'll see him at a meeting. That was the only one we saw fishing in the stretch we were on. I did roll some rocks and found a good amount of mayfly nymphs what looked to me to be march browns and sulfurs. I'm not good at identifying but looking is always entertaining.
