That Stonfo rig will give any currently produced vise some stiff competition - I bought one for my son and was thinking of ditching my Regals for a while
Yea, that Kaiman is more mine. Bought it 6 or so years ago and it’s been fantastic. Just wanted something I could swivel to see the back side. If I like the ability to swivel I’ll pull the trigger on the Stonfo Transformer or Elite. I too have regals but prefer the Kaiman.
I saw that but that’s not what ultimately made my mind up. The shop has a bunch of other vises and I’ve been buying from them for years and the owner literally said come try this. It was a griffin mongoose and in my opinion it was crap. He then said come try this and it was the Nirvana and it was 100% smoother.
Can’t say I ever tried but I’ll take your advice and give it a whirl. I do tie a lot of buggers and that was in the back of my mind with this purchase too.
UPDATE: Jaws held a 26 with no issue. Base is heavy and vise is sturdy. Rotary is very smooth. I didn't know it when I bough the vise originally but you can buy replacement jaw assemblies through Moonlit. I'm going to order a couple and keep them as spares. Very nice vice for the money.
