Has NJ ended stocking over native brook trout?
No but they don't stock brookies or browns at all so they don't stock them over wild populations. Rainbows only. Private stockings are another matter, you need a permit but there is no requirement to stock only Bows, that's free for all like PA.

Here's some good information on NJ brook trout management.

I wonder how other states manage brook trout. It probably varies a lot from state to state.
I'm including an excerpt from MD DNR's monthly report. A lot happening for brook trout down here.

The Chesapeake Bay program that is referenced is a big driver for the intense focus on saving existing brook trout and expanding their range where possible. Much of PA also drains to the Chesapeake and you would think this would mean they also focus on brook trout in the same way, but it just isn't happening.

Good to hear that! PA should be doing similar projects, instead of stocking over streams with reproducing brookie populations.
