No one is talking about access, except the folks who insist the stream is stocked. Who is taking away access from class A streams? What citizen all of a sudden won't have access rights if that stream isn't stocked?

Once again (I asked this before and it wasn't answered): WHY do folks insist that stocking occur over naturally reproducing populations of trout? What is accomplished by this? There's no loss of access, there's no loss of opportunity. All that's "lost" is an artificial fishery injected upon a natural one. Why are people so married to what is plastic?
Two reasons come to mind. Some people think stocked trout are easier to catch. Some people think more trout equals easier catches.

I think the loss of access sometimes happens because when the state stops stocking the entitled landowner feels they got screwed because their friends and family can no longer enjoy catching the stocked fish and so they shut down the property.

So, granting the PFBC permission to stock on private land is basically a quid pro quo. 😉

That comment apparently includes a lot (not all) of strictly C&R wild trout anglers too. “Think” is the operative word. One does not need to have wild trout populations at their max density for a given water in order to have good fishing.

Yeah. But that's a loss of access for everyone. So to say fly fishermen are pushing the State to (again...) uphold ITS OWN POLICY just to keep the spinner guys off the water so that we can have the stream all to ourselves, as was the accusation, still doesn't hold up.

As a reminder, wild trout in a pool behave similarly to a herd of horses, and a pack of dogs, and lots of other forms of life.
An "Alpha" (as is today's often used term) is constantly determined within the pool.
The dominant trout get the best place to rest and feed, depending on what food is coming down the flow.
The large trout get the best places to barely move. Often with chins behind benthic rocks, laying in the low pressure places.
Minimize the energy used in order to survive on the energy of food available 24/7/365.
The smaller trout move around elsewhere.

They really can not be raised in raceways.

Stocked trout almost always swim and side-by-side with no apparent recognition of an Alpha.
They use muscles all the time. They get fed regularly to build the muscle, which increases the flesh and a great reduction in time needed to produce GMO fillets.
Their behavior causes wild trout to constantly use their energy to chase strocked trout out of their domain.
The wild trout can't survive without the food balance. They will die.
