Fished Neshannock yesterday. Flow and water color conditions are perfect, but temps might have been a little cool in the morning for best fishing success. Mostly fished nymphs and large, heavily weighted, rabbit strip muddlers. Got 7, all but two on the muddlers. Two were good sized bows that appeared to have been recently stocked but in good shape. Also got a pair of small browns, a couple smaller bows and one perfect looking rainbow that might have been a holdover. The two fish that didn't take a muddler took a green weenie and a bright green caddis pupae. There might be a trend there...
A ton of small midges started hatching around 10 AM but no indication of fish taking midges. After lunch black stones started coming off in very good numbers, but again no fish taking them while I was there. Left at 2:00 PM and they were everywhere. Hopefully the fish started taking them later in the PM.
The stream is in such perfect shape! The fish could be anywhere, but the water was not so high as to make fishing difficult. Water was clear but just green enoguh to obscure the depths of the pools and runs.
