Neshannock Creek, Lawrence County 12/9/12

Ripped some lips on the Neshannock today from 12:30 till a little after 3 when it started to pour. Didn't expect much since I went to cool spring yesterday and didn't get a single bite. The water here was also high and muddy following the rains earlier in the week. Used two split shots with the deep water and slung 3 flys the whole time with minor switches. All were caught behind the shop. First 2 caught were while I was slinging a pink crystal meth, san juan worm, and red lighting bug nymph with both taking the san juan. I then switched to an orange glow bug, kept the san juan, and tied a green weenie on the end. The last fish of the day was a MONSTER as seen from the photo. Easily 15-16 inches (wish I had a tape measure) taking the green weenie. This one fought HARD and I was glad to get him to hand because he snapped the line when I grabbed him. All in all a decent day considering the weather.

Nice report! I've been too busy with steel and wild trout last weekend and haven't made it to Neshannock recently. Glo bugs usually work well when it's up and muddy as you found out. Nice fish too.

Check it out after they do the "lunker" stocking in the spring. Most of them are about the size of your last fish and plump. Pretty strong too. I've caught and seen trout in the 20in class there(bows and browns), but you need some cool summers to hold them over.

Had off work so I went again today from about 1:30 till 4:45...Before I started I went into the shop to say hi to Bob and check out some thingamabobbers...not to buy...just to check out...well while I'm setting up my rod the other gentleman that was in the shop came over and said "Hey I heard you mention you need thingamabobbers...I got 2 here for ya."...didn't get the guys name but I was thankful for the nice gesture...as for the fishing...water was still high and dark...only landed one...took a good number of breaks...water was extremely cold even with my neoprene waders
