Neshannock Creek, Lawrence Co, 6/5/14

Fished the Neshannock last night from around 7-10pm. Lots of bugs and a good amount of rises. I saw a handful of caddis, sulphurs, cahills (almost white), midges and of course the brown drakes. Drakes were in the air and depositing eggs all evening. The cahills seem to have the spinners hit the water first at night and the fish keyed on a spent wing, all white spinner and then quickly turned over to the drakes. Landed 5 fish all on top and missed a bunch. The clear skies hurt in the daylight but helped with the moonlight at night to help see just enough. My father in law joined me and had a grand total of 1 trout on a fly rod and he landed 4 and had a great time seeing the fish rise. Great day out. Drakes won't be around much longer so if you want to fish them get there now!

Good report. I had some good action there Monday evening/night. In terms of bugs there wasn't a whole lot coming off until the drakes started. A couple caddis, cahills, and midges but very few overall. Most of my fish came on a rusty spinner. There were a couple other guys but most left before it got dark, which is of course when things got good. Fun evening.. Tried nymphs for a little bit but that got boring fast lol

Saturday was Day 1 so who knows if they'll be on again tonight.....
