Leaving for vacation to Florida tomorrow, so figured I'd skip out of work for a few hours and get some fishing in (well it was a good enough excuse for me). Air temp was high 50's, water temp was still fairly cold, didn't take a reading, water a bit off color, but good, and good flow. Fished from 9am to noon. Some risers, but nothing steady. Saw white midges about a sz 24-26, a few caddis, BWO's about sz 16, and some other micros. I tried a griffiths gnat sz22, and sz 16 elk hair with no luck on top. Caught a handful of chubs, which are annoying on that stream at times. Got 3 nice fish, 2 browns and a rainbow, on a golden colored bead head flash back gold ribbed hares ear, wow that's a mouthful. Had a small PT and an egg pattern on for a tandem with the HE. Had a few swipe at the egg without any hookups. Most of the hookups or fish landed were taken almost immediately when the fly struck the water. They seemed aggressive. By the time I get back, in one week, it'll probably be steady terrestrial time. Gotta get to tying some of those up.
