Played hooky and went out to the neshannock for a few hours yesterday. Got there and there were a few others with the same idea. Geared up at 11am and fished until 3. Water was up a bit and pretty green, it cleared up as the day went on. There was a sparce but steady hatch of black stones. Didn't take a water temp but it was still a bit cold. Saw a guy wet wading and made me cold just looking at him. I threw the box at them and got nothing. Saw one rise the whole day so didn't try dries. Tried HE, Prince, black stone nymph, eggs, green weenie, midge, buggers, streamers... NOTHING! I guess I got cursed for skipping out of work. Actually I saw one guy land a trout and another guy way downstream with what I thought was a carp on, other than that everyone seemed to have the same success as me. Fished from the shop downstream about a mile or so. With them putting 15,000 fish in for the preseason stocking about a month ago, I didn't see very many fish... you know it's a bad day when the only fish you see is a chub on the end of your line... foul hooked lol. still had fun.
I'm sure with the rain today it's up and probably unfishable. It was nice to be on the stream though, haven't been out in almost a month. I'll try out another stream next time I want to get out of working.
